Texans and Raiders square off tomorrow

Tickets Still Available!

The Houston Texans have been a hot ticket all year and now will host the once equally hot Oakland Raiders this weekend in the NFL Wild Card series as the playoffs begin. But both teams have serious quarterback troubles.

This time last season, the Houston Texans were the AFC South winners and in the Wild Card game against a the Kansas City Chiefs.  The outcome was not what they wanted nor predicted as Kansas City took the Texans to task to the tune of 30-0.

Fast forward a year and the Texans are again the Wild Card game only this time against an Oakland Raiders team that will be starting a rookie at quarterback.  The Texans may have been in the same situation with Rookie Tom Savage if he had not been knocked out of the final game of the season.  With that, Brock Osweiler will get the start with Brandon Weeden as his backup.   Savage went down in the final game of the season against the Titans and went into the NFL concussion protocol and was replaced by Osweiler.  Head Coach Bill O’Brien announced that Osweiler would start over Savage whether or not he cleared the NFL concussion protocol.

The Raiders have had quarterback troubles ever since Derek Carr went down in week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts with what would be determined to be a broken fibula.  He was replaced by Matt McGloin who in turn was knocked out the game in a week 17 loss against the Denver Broncos.  Rookie Connor Cook replaced McGloin and it was announced by the Raiders that Cook would start against the Texans, which indicates that McGloin is not healthy enough to play.

Tickets for this NFL Wildcard Playoff event are still available so be sure to grab yours today and help cheer on your Texans!

Texans host 49ers in final preseason game

The Houston Texans have a lot of decisions to make before getting the team down to the NFL Mandated 53 players by August 31st.  Some players under the gun are

  • ILB Max Bullough – The undrafted rookie has performed well in preseason but this is a hard position to figure out and there have been times of confusion for the young rook.
  • K Chris Boswell – After missing two field goals in preseason week two against the Falcons, Boswell has been on the bubble.  He is trying to unseat incumbent Randy Bullock but barring an injury to Bullock, Boswell has little chance of making the cut.
  • WR Travis Labhart – I have never liked when an NFL team signs a receiver under six foot and Labhart is 5’9″.  During the preseason, Rookie QB Tom Savage has linked up with him a couple of times.  He may be able to force his way on with another strong performance against the Niners.
  • FS Shilo Keo – Even though he started over Ed Reed last season, Keo will have to have an absolute monster game to stay on the Texans roster.  Having said that, he could be an addition to a lot of NFL defenses if he is cut.
  • Case Keenum and Tom Savage will battle it out for the backup spot to Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Great seats and cheap tickets are still available for the game tonight against the 49ers. Get yours now!!
