Texans host 49ers in final preseason game

The Houston Texans have a lot of decisions to make before getting the team down to the NFL Mandated 53 players by August 31st.  Some players under the gun are

  • ILB Max Bullough – The undrafted rookie has performed well in preseason but this is a hard position to figure out and there have been times of confusion for the young rook.
  • K Chris Boswell – After missing two field goals in preseason week two against the Falcons, Boswell has been on the bubble.  He is trying to unseat incumbent Randy Bullock but barring an injury to Bullock, Boswell has little chance of making the cut.
  • WR Travis Labhart – I have never liked when an NFL team signs a receiver under six foot and Labhart is 5’9″.  During the preseason, Rookie QB Tom Savage has linked up with him a couple of times.  He may be able to force his way on with another strong performance against the Niners.
  • FS Shilo Keo – Even though he started over Ed Reed last season, Keo will have to have an absolute monster game to stay on the Texans roster.  Having said that, he could be an addition to a lot of NFL defenses if he is cut.
  • Case Keenum and Tom Savage will battle it out for the backup spot to Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Great seats and cheap tickets are still available for the game tonight against the 49ers. Get yours now!!

Texans drop 12th in a row

Wade Phillips loses first game as Interim Head Coach

For the second straight week, the Houston Texans struggled to play disciplined football totaling 114 yards in penalties for the second week in a row.  Those negative yards were key in adding to the franchises 12 straight loss.

“That’s very disheartening,” Phillips said of the penalties. “Ten of them were in the first half which really hurt our defense. I don’t know what pass interference is anymore. I thought the guy made a heck of a play to get the ball on the one-yard line. At the end of the game, we jumped offsides. When you know its third-and-one, those kind of penalties, there’s no excuse for those.”

The game was viewed as the first of three for former Cowboys Head Coach Wade Phillips in which to impress team owners enough to keep him on as the head coach for next season.  There are already rumors that put Penn State Head Coach Bill O’Brien in the running.

Things can go from bad to worse next weekend as the Texans face Peyton Manning and the #1 Team in the AFC, the Denver Broncos.

“They’re the number one offense in the league. Not just him (Manning), but their whole offense, their offensive line, their running backs. They move the ball better than anybody in the league. I think we’re fourth now in people moving the ball on us. It’s a big challenge.”

Tickets and great seats are still available for this AFC match up.

Houston drops game to Patriots

Loss is 10th in a row for Texans

The New England Patriots knew that the Houston Texans would not be a cake walk…no team in the NFL is and in any given week, one team can defeat another…which is why the game is played in the first place.

Sunday, the Patriots didn’t expect the shootout that transpireed and Tom Brady certainly didn’t expect to have to come back from a 10-point  first half deficit.

“I wish we could start fast and put the foot on the gas pedal the whole way,” Patriot QB Tom Brady said.  “Whatever we’re doing is not good enough, and we can’t keep getting behind because you have to play too well in the second half to overcome,” Brady said.

The Texans have little time to reflect on the loss as they prepare to face the Jacksonville Jaguars this Thursday Night.  Great seats and Tickets are still available.
